Today’s Sweet Treats Story & Sensory Play was a blast!

Thank you to all the families who came out this morning. One of my favorite things is watching the kids settle into their own little world as they play. There were lots of sweet creations, and only a couple of sneaky tastes that I caught. 😉

At one point, I overheard someone laughing about how nice it was not to have to clean up the mess afterward. Honestly, hearing that made me smile because that’s exactly why I do this! You get to spend time with your little one, enjoy the experience, and make memories together. I’ll take care of the prep, setup, and cleanup.

Days like today remind me why I started Small Hands Big Creations. Watching little ones fully engaged in play makes every hour behind the scenes worth it.

I’ll be honest, there have been plenty of times I’ve looked at rice all over the floor and questioned my life choices.

But sensory play has become one of my favorite ways to spend time with my kids because it slows us down. There are no instructions to follow, no pressure to create something “right,” and no expectations beyond simply exploring and having fun.

Some days I join in. Other days I sit nearby with my coffee and watch where their imagination takes them.

Either way, some of our sweetest memories have come from the simplest activities.

We’ll start with a themed story and then explore open-ended sensory play stations.

There is no right or wrong way to play! Parents can join in or relax while little ones explore at their own pace.

I’m testing both a weekday and Saturday option this month, so grab a friend and make it a playdate! ✨

Starting on Monday, Kindermusik is bringing the beach indoors for a two-week themed event on Mondays and Wednesdays!

Little ones will enjoy beach inspired crafts, music, movement, snacks, and sensory play by SHBC.

This sensory mix is just one of the fun experiences waiting for your little ones!

It’s not ALWAYS sunshine and rainbows…

Sometimes it’s sensory bin rice covering my floor… 
But then I see how excited and focused my kids get. It gives them a chance to connect, calm down if needed, and learn to share! And sometimes mom joins them too 😉  That’s why I love sensory play so much both at home and inside my classes.

These little moments feel ordinary while we’re in them, but I have a feeling they’re the things we’ll ache to relive someday 🤍

Some of the best play moments come from the simple

Some of the best play moments come from the simplest setups.

I remember my mom giving my kids measuring spoons and cups to play with and whether it was on the kitchen floor or in the bath they always chose those over half their toys!

There’s just something about real household items that keeps little ones so engaged.

These simple sensory ideas are easy, low pressure, and use things you probably already have at home.

And if you want the sensory fun without the setup and cleanup afterward… that’s exactly why my classes exist 🫶
